Extra-curricular
The Duke of Edinburgh’s award
You will be able to pursue the Gold Award. The scheme includes expeditions in the Yorkshire Dales, Service and Skills’ components, and helps you to develop teamwork and leadership skills.
Drama
You have the opportunity to lead Stage Crew, co-direct and stage manage productions, co-lead Drama clubs and team teach KS3. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in productions at professional venues as a performer or at a technical level.
Music
You will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of musical ensembles including Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Show Band and Choir. Trips to see live performances and a 3 day residential are also open to instrumentalists. You can also access individual instrumental tuition during or after school.
Sport
You can be involved in sports’ activities through coaching, leading, assisting and also playing sport. There are Sixth Form teams in netball, rugby, football, basketball, hockey and table tennis.
Sports Academy
You have the opportunity to achieve your sporting ambitions alongside achieving high academic excellence through timetabled netball and rugby sessions as well as strength and condition sessions led by highly experienced coaches.
Modern Foreign Languages
You have the opportunity to study Italian and/or Mandarin Chinese from beginners level by joining one of Sixth Form ab initio GCSE groups. Linked to our core language subjects, we run biennial exchange programmes to France, Germany and Spain. Additionally, you can volunteer as mentors to help out in lower school language lessons.
