Support for progression
The Sixth Form Team supports each stage of university and apprenticeship applications through step-by-step guidance, writing academic references, and providing UCAS grades which will be submitted with applications.
Further information can be found on Showbie and Unifrog, and through the following links:
- opendays.com to find out when universities are hosting open days or virtual events.
- UCAS for advice and guidance about the university application process.
- https://www.ucas.com/parents-signup for parents to register to receive a regular e-newsletter, containing advice and information from UCAS.
- Apprenticeships | Learn About Apprenticeships And Find The Right One For You (ucas.com) to search for apprenticeship and degree apprenticeship opportunities
- Not Going To Uni: Apprenticeships & Work Experience in the UK for a range of excellent apprenticeship and degree apprenticeship opportunities and advice.
MOOCs
Students are also encouraged to complete a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) of their choice during the summer break. Courses cover a wide variety of specialised topics which develop a student’s understanding of the subject area. A large number of them are written and accredited by universities. The completion of a MOOC demonstrates an impressive commitment to personal and academic development, and this will be recognised within the reference that the school will write for students. The following website details a range of excellent courses on offer FutureLearn.
