Programmes of study
Selecting programmes of study
A Level and Alternative Academic Qualifications are Level 3 qualifications that take you beyond GCSE. With 40 courses on offer, the Sixth Form provides a great deal of choice for students to construct a programme of study that suits their needs.
Alternative Academic Qualifications are currently subject to an ongoing government review. This may potentially bring about some changes which could affect the range of courses on offer.
The school will provide an update as soon as this information is available.
A Level
At A Level your final grade will be based on examinations taken at the end of a two year course.
Alternative Academic Qualifications
The BTEC and Cambridge Technical Qualifications are equivalent to one A Level. Two years of study must be completed to obtain accreditation. These courses contain significant project-based assessments.
Your course
You will be advised about choosing particular combinations of subjects, and those students with particular career aspirations, such as medicine, will be given guidance as to which subjects will be essential for further study. You will select three full subjects at the start of Year 12 along with one of the additional choices from the second table below.
