How we spend PTA funds
Funds raised by the PTA has been used to provide experiences, equipment and facilities such as concept rowers for a cardio –vascular fitness suite; table tennis tables; athletics, gymnastic and boxing equipment for the PE faculty; games, puzzles and crossword books for the Mathematics faculty Puzzle Club; plants stones and fish for a student garden project in Learning Support; Accelerator Reader software for the English faculty; an online media resource for the Learning Resource Centre; Holocaust Survivors Day for the History faculty; contribution to music tours for HGS musicians.

£1,050 to fund three new camcorders to support English department and BTech Media Studies. - Learning Support Faculty
£500 for Learning Support, £250 of which will fund students who are not able to access the mainstream curriculum for food technology to take part in a pioneering Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Course which leads to a Level 1 BTEC in Home Cooking Skills. The other £250 will help fund an innovative project set up at Harewood House to give students the opportunity to work alongside the head gardener in the grounds and walled vegetable garden of Harewood. The money will go towards buying seeds and tools and other equipment for the students. The course will lead to a City and Guilds Level 1 in Horticulture Skills as well as Level 1 in Land-based Studies. - Performing Arts Faculty
£349 for a new mixing desk in the Library Theatre - Science Faculty
£150 to fund a bird of prey demonstration for all year 7 students to support work they were doing in STEM week £250 to help towards funding of a BTech Science trip to Drax Power Station to see how science works in an international company and to see the work carried out to minimise the environmental impact of the station. - Modern Foreign Languages Faculty
£750 to put on two performances of “La Chanson du Retour”, a musical adventure in French given by Theatre Sans Frontieres – bringing fun into the medium of French and inspiring over 260 students to sing, rap and speak in French with this interactive theatre performance. - PE and Sport Faculty
£820 to purchase new fitness equipment – a weights bench and squat rack, rubber olympic disc weights with safety handles and a wall mounted mirror so students can check posture to avoid injury. - Music Faculty
£2000 to support the Music Tour to Amsterdam in June 2012. The £2,000 has been raised by parents and music students doing a number of fundraising activities including bag packing at Asda and M&S, coffee mornings and raffles.
