Careers Advice And Support For Students

  • Students are supported at key moments of their journey through secondary school by the Careers Team at HGS.
  • Big Picture and Progression lessons continue to provide opportunities for students to learn about the different education, training and employment options they can consider for the future. Information is shared with students through Showbie, assemblies, emails and student bulletins.
  • All students and parents/carers are also invited to the annual Careers Fair which takes place in November every year. Representatives from education and training providers attend as well as a range of local and national companies to help inform and inspire students with their plans for the future.
  • All students in Year 11 are invited to a careers guidance appointment in the autumn term with Mrs Mitchell (HGS Careers Adviser). These appointments provide information, advice and guidance about Post-16 choices so students can make decisions about their future plans and are offered support with their applications for the next stage of their journey after Year 11 and GCSE exams.
  • Students in all year groups are welcome to self-refer for a careers guidance appointment at any stage during the year if they have any careers related questions or would like any support. This can be arranged through Form Tutors, Year Managers or by dropping into the Careers Hub Office (in the Hub) during break or lunchtimes on Monday, Tuesday. Wednesday and Friday to speak to Mrs Mitchell or Mrs Wainwight.
