Careers Websites and Further Information for students

Through Big Picture lessons, Careers Interviews, Careers related Super Learning Days, National Careers Week events, Careers and World of Work themed assemblies, students in Years 7-11 are encouraged to take responsibility for their future choices and to start research and plan for their future. This is through Career Planning when students develop the skills of:

Self-Awareness = where am I now?
Career Exploration = where do I want to be?
Career Management = how do I get there?

Students are encouraged to use a range of websites and resources to develop their career planning knowledge and understanding both at school and at home and this information is shared with students in lessons, assemblies, presentations and emails. There are also dedicated sections in the weekly student and parent bulletins which contain links to careers related websites and details events and opportunities to support students in their career research and career management skills.

Success At Schools

The Success At Schools resource will help students to find out information about pathways, employability skills, work experience, gap years, future-proofing your career and subject specific information. Students in Years 7-11 will be referring to this resource in their careers and financial education topics in Big Picture lessons in the spring term and sixth form students will also be using the resource as part of their progression programme.

Your Money Matters

The Your Money Matters financial education resource, funded by Martin Lewis, has been provided for all schools with the aim of supporting the financial capability of young people and covers a wide range of important topics such as savings, interest, money, mental health, budgeting, debt, APR, student finance, apprenticeships, earnings, tax, pensions, gambling, investments, identity theft, fraud and much more. The book is aimed at 14-16 year olds but can be used with other year groups so we hope that students in sixth form and lower school will also find it interesting and helpful.
