Welcome to Harrogate Grammar School

Neil Renton, Headteacher, would like to welcome you  to the positive, inspiring and inclusive community of Harrogate Grammar School (HGS).

We value every student as an individual packed with potential, ready to challenge themselves in the classroom, on the sports pitch, on the stage or beyond. Our drive to achieve Excellence for All gives students the confidence to reach high, ask questions and be the best that they can be. Students are encouraged to pursue their interests, discover new ones and to achieve their ambitions.

We hope this website gives you a flavour of the remarkable students and exceptional staff who help make HGS such a special place to learn and develop.

The HGS Marvellous Minibus Fundraising Campaign

The Harrogate Grammar School PTA, registered charity 508520, invites you to support the school fundraising campaign this year for a new minibus. A new minibus costs around £40,000 and this is money the school just doesn’t have. Our minibuses are so important to our students and school life. Not only do they take children to sporting fixtures from Newcastle to London, but they pick up children from home when they live in rural areas without a bus service. Every week they take children to Forest Upper School and outdoor facilities in the Dales. Every year they make visits to University Open days. They enable children to take part in regional competitions and they are key to the booming Duke of Edinburgh award scheme at HGS. The minibuses are also important in the local community helping local football clubs and the sea cadets.
